The EnergyTag Initiative is an independent, non-profit, industry-led initiative to define and build a market for Granular Certificates, the hourly tracking instrument needed to enable 24/7 CFE at scale. Established in 2020, it now brings together 1000+ members from 500+ organisations all around the world.
In 2022 EnergyTag published the Granular Certificate Scheme Standard and Guidelines, providing the only such Granular Certificate standard in the world, supported by over 100 companies, such as Google, Microsoft, NordPool, Engie, Iberdrola, PwC. The creation of standards in a consensus-driven stakeholder process is one of three main pillars of EnergyTag activity, the remaining two being market development and policy & awareness. We now coordinate 12 pilot projects in Europe, US and Asia, that prove Granular Certificates are a technically feasible solution for various use cases. Our team is also heavily involved in advocating for GC and 24/7 CFE use in regulations and standards such as green hydrogen certification, Guarantee of Origin system design or GHG Protocol update.
